As "the original Firm instructor", Susan Harris got her start in video production in the 80’s as the first lead instructor in The Firm Workout series. She’s often remembered as "the girl with the braid in the yellow leotard". Susan has inspired women all over the world to begin and stick with a workout routine. Many recount Susan as the instructor that started their fitness quest.
Susan is a natural mover with 10 years of classical ballet training. Her current certifications are with NASM (The National Academy of Sports Medicine). Susan teaches classes at V Health Club, and with 25 years teaching experience, always puts on a great show.
Here is one of Susan’s favorite "celebrity moments":
"A little boy whose mother did my video religiously came to Charleston to visit. He had been doing the video with her for a few years. He had a yellow shirt to match my leotard, a golden chain to match mine. He was so cute. He came running in with his mom so excited and stopped looking rather confused he said, ‘Susan you got old.’ I thought his mother would die. Now that was FUNNY."
Susan’s workout philosophy? "Life just keeps changing and so do we. My workouts are the one consistent thing that has been there for me through teenage years, marriage and divorce, 4 children, my parent’s death etc. We all have life changes to go through, it is our common thread. Working out, the other common bond we have, done consistently and whole heartily will award us vitality, healthfulness, strength, balance, self-respect and happiness. Just keep moving!"
